openSUSE:Debranding
From Davjam.org
Here are some snapshots taken during the installation and use of an openSUSE-based distribution.
Novell have kindly created rembrand (http://repos.opensuse.org/home:/jnweiger/SUSE_Factory/repodata/repoview/), an application that will strip out and replace graphics that contain a Novell or SUSE trademark.
This was used to remove branding in the first attempt, and to replace branded images with replacements in subsequent attempts.
As further images have been discovered, these have been added to rembrand which should now find and replace (almost) all images containing a Novell or SUSE trademark.
Just in case you're interested, here's a write-up of the work required in creating the de-branded version

This has snapshots taken from openSUSE-based distribution after some of the Novell or SUSE trademarks and copyrighted images removed. In the first go, the images were replaced by blank images.

This has almost all Novell or SUSE trademarks and copyrighted images removed and replaced. There are still some images used that have a Novell or SUSE trademark. Most of these images are visible during the initial installation.

This has all the non-optional Novell or SUSE trademarks and copyrighted images removed and replaced. The optional images are mostly screenshots, although there are a few where the images are included in packages from third parties. This time, I've replaced the images in the initial root file system with non-branded images, so there should be no Novell or SUSE trademark images seen during the initial installation. |
These are all based upon the 32bit GM version of openSUSE 10.2.
